What year is this??!!

Wow. I have failed yet again. I haven't blogged since NOVEMBER. *sad* Really though, time has flown! Let me try to catch you up on my busy life-
  • At Thanksgiving, my cousins came and spent a couple days with us. That was totally awesome. I love my cousins! But they have moved to Virginia...:*( sad.
  • Our basketball season was still going, which was also really enjoyable. All thru the season, I improved every game.
  • At our co-op(ECC) and at basketball, I became really great friends with Arthiel. She is just like Arodeth and I. I am so glad she is in my life:)
  • CHRISTMAS CAME!!!
  • Hmm. THE HOBBIT CAME OUT!!!!! Oh it was soooooooooo good. And it had my all-time favorite LotR character, Legolas. Even though he wasn't in the book... But since he is Thranduil' s son, and Thranduil is in the book, Legolas would technically have been there. I worked that one out!! But my major issue was Tauriel. I did my research, she is totally made up by the producers, I repeat- she is NOT a work of Tolkien. :( and don't get me started on her and Kili. DON'T EVEN GO THERE! Also, Kili, Fili, Bofur, and Oin are supposed to continue on with the group. Kili isn't supposed to even get hurt. But ANYWAY, it's a great movie!!
  • Ecc came and went!
  • At the end of February, we had our homeschool Texas state tournament. That was super duper fun! We won our first two games, then lost in the semifinals. But I made the winning shot in our 3rd place game! I also got to catch up with a couple friends I hadn't seen since last season! That was great to see them.
  • In March, 10-14, we had our homeschool national tournament in Springfield, MO. That was really great. I made the winning shot again, on the twelfth. We got 8th place.
  • March 12 was my birthday!!!! I turned 14!!!:) :D
  • On the 17th of March, we went to Kerrville!!!!!! I got to spend 3 days with Aro and that was amazing.
  • When we got back, my brother and his wife came and visited us. :)my brother and I were told we degraded back 15 years in age. Haha;)
  • On April 4th, I went to a 3 day church youth event with Arthiel, called Disciple Now. It was an amazing experience. I also got much better acquainted with Arthiel' s dear friend, Madeline ( http://thelittledecorator.blogspot.com/) I had a great time with them at DNow 2013.
  • After DNow, I started going to their youth group. The youth pastor is great, and all in all it is a great atmosphere.
  • My summer team just started to play games, and that is going well. We have played 4 games, and I have gotten SO much better even in a month!
That is just about all for today. I am going to try and post MUCH more often. Aro and I can remember together to try and make one post a week. Emphasis on try. At least one a month!! Hopefully more. Since summer is starting soon, I'll hopefully be less busy. I hope someone is blessed by my first post in forever!!!:)
Aranel out.

Time flies o_O

Hey guys! Wow it's been awhile since I posted... But hey I've been busy! Friday is the last day of co-op. It's been SO much fun! I think my favorite class is ping-pong. Although I love them all. In pingpong my good friend Brennil is in there. We are very similar. It's fun to yell at the other people in elvish and they have no clue what we are saying! She also is a LotR fan. The speech class actually isn't too bad. I am apparently good at public speaking! Which, by the way, I credit to Aro. Basketball is also going well. Speaking of, our record is 3-0 (woohoo!) And we have 4 more games this week.  This is what happens when you try to say 'This is what happens when you try to type on a Spanish keyboard' on a Spanish keyboard- Tenis os eBay japonés deben Tour Type on a sótanos keyboard. I'm special like that:) I recently got to go to a horse camp. It was super fun! I had a great horse, and a great time. At the end, the instructor basically said to me 'Look you're better than everyone here, so you can start helping now'(because this was the second session and you normally had to complete all 3 sessions. And I hadn't done the 1st session either). That was a great honor. I actually haven't started yet because of something on their end. This is a link for update on Andrew Peterson Warden and the Wolf King!!! (We pledged Cave Blat)  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/478789344/the-warden-and-the-wolf-king

I have to go now. Aranel

Randomness galore

Is galore even a word? Hmm... Who cares. So, have some random pieces of my life.
This Friday my co-op starts!! So excited. But, Arodeth won't be there wah!! However, I do know some people and I (mostly) have fun classes. My classes- 1st hour Basketball. 2nd hour Texas history(bleh). 3rd hour Brain Based Science, which actually looks fun. 4th hour Speech class *cough cough thanks mom* 5th hour Pingpong, with the awesomest teacher EVER(yes mom, besides you)!!!!! Soo, looking forward to that. And next Monday, Basketball season starts (WHOOP WHOOP) (hey hey Aro, party in the back!) Wow it really is September. OHMYGOSH THE HOBBIT COMES OUT IN 4 MONTHS!!!!!!!!! Yeah I'm going crazy waiting on that. I'm planning on dressing up in my new cape for that:) Ooh yeah and Thor: The Dark World comes out in November!!!!!! And the Avengers 2 comes out IN 2015!!!!!!! *is displeased* And, Andrew Peterson, WHAT. THE. HECK. It's past January, wouldn't you say? Yet, no Warden and the Wolf King yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, I re-read The Chronicles of Narnia:) Second best book series ever! The first is Lord of the Rings. Always. But I think the best book-to-movie ratio is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. That's about all for now. Aranel signing out.

ARODETH CAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everybody! For you people who don't know me, I am... let's say... obsessed with Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Avengers. Sooo, as you can see, I've changed my profile name to Aranel. That is a name in Elvish, a language J.R.R. Tolkien invented. Firefly changed her name to Arodeth, which is also Elvish. So when I mention Arodeth, that is Firefly's new name.

Last Wednesday, Arodeth came up to Dallas!!! We had a blast. When Aro (my nickname for Arodeth. My nickname is Ara.), came to Dallas in September, I gave her and Boonie Mom quite the welcome. I dressed up as an old lady and pretended to be walking along. hen their car came into sight, I hobbled toward our house. They exited their car laughing, and I tore off my disguise.
This visit, I had been plotting for a week about how to 'greet' them. The night before they came, I got the perfect plan. Arodeth and I had made ninja outfits, complete with capes(see pic below). I decided to wear mine. So, my plan-There is a tree right next to the road near our house. I was going to climb the tree, and when they were passing, jump out and run alongside their car. So that morning, about thirty minutes before their arrival, I climbed the tree and waited for them. Every time I heard a car approach, I thought, 'Snap! It's them!' And it would never be them. Then when it was actually them, I was not prepared! So I jumped down and took off. Unfortunately, in my descent, my cape flew up over my head. Fortunately, no one saw the cape flap over my face. They stopped the car and laughed, letting Aro jump out and run over to me. Together, we chased the car.
  • Wednesday- They arrived; we played in the empty pool; then we actually went to an aquatic center. It was super fun! A side note on the aquatic center- The lifeguards were AWESOME. Seriously hilarious. One guy was at the top of the slides, telling people 'Go. Go.' Then, he was blathering randomly about random stuff. Aro and I looked at each other and started laughing. I said, 'That would be us at a job'. Then the next time we went arrived at the top of the slide platform, he was dancing on a chair to no music. I asked, 'Boring job?' and he replied, 'Yup'. We got to the bottom of the slides and started laughing. I said, 'THAT is me on the job.' She agreed. Then he switched posts and a different guy came up. We were like 'Awwww, funny guy's gone!' Turns out, he was just as hilarious. He was splashing people, and  when one little kid screamed like crazy on a super slow slide, he did a hilarious imitation of the kid. When his replacement was coming up the stairs, he dumped water on him and swan-dived down a slide.  We agreed that would be her at a job:) Later, we went home and played outside in the pool some more.
  • Thursday- We went to Six Flags and it was SO FUN!!!!  We rode a bunch of rollercoasters and mini rides. We went home and played outside (surprise!).
  • Friday-We got ready to go to MAIN EVENT!! And waited on the moms outside. And waited... Then we left!! And played seven games of laser tag. Then we had to leave... Almost immediately after we got home, we left to go to a play. We headed home, and I remembered that we had to pick up Arodeth's cape, which was at a lady's house, being used as an example for the cape she was making for me. When we knocked, she said, 'Come in! (To Aro) Here is your cape, (To me) And here is yours.' I was ecstatic. I didn't think she would have it finished yet. We chased the car back to the house with our capes on. We played a bit, then went to bed.
  • Saturday-We played outside then she had to leave. WAHHHHH!!!!

Well, that's all for now,
                                      Aranel

I GOT TO SEE FIREFLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I GOT TO SEE FIREFLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She came on Wednesday 8th of April, and left on that Saturday.

  • Wednesday- We made tie-dye shirts; played in the empty pool; watched THE AVENGERS!!!! and played with glowsticks; then it was dark; and we played with glowsticks outside.
  • Thursday- It was homeschool day at Six Flags and we went there; all of us wearing tie-dye shirts. It was fun, although it rained so we only got to ride one rollercoaster. :*(  However, we got rain checks! We came came home and played outside in the pool some more.
  • Friday- Our moms and Creator's Son went to the homeschool book fair, but Firefly and I had NO interest whatsoever. We went park hopping (for you people who don't know what 'park hopping' is, it's when you go to a whole bunch of different parks, then decide which one's the funnest and go back to it); got really hungry and ate; then we went swimming with Grandma; ate AGAIN because we were hungry; took showers, played outside for the rest of the day. ;)
  • Saturday morning- We packed her stuff furiously in 5 minutes; then we played outside in the pool. I live next to a high school, and they had a football game and were playing music and we ran around the pool crazily; and danced to the weird music and laughed super hard. Then it was 'times for her to go' so we migrated to the front yard and walked up and down the sidewalk for 20 minutes. Then she actually had to go and I raced their car at16 mph and won. We parted ways with the knowledge of seeing each other in 3 weeks. Till later, Mustang. P.S.- I had  forgotten to get mother's approval on this post, so I never  posted it. (Hat of shame) ( A hat of shame is something Firefly and I made up for when you fail epically.)

Testing, is this blog still active??!!

Hey! I am SOOOO sorry I haven't blogged in FOREVER. We have been super busy lately and I kept saying, "I'll just blog tomorrow," so I put it off for a long time. Then I forgot I even had a blog! Now I am going to try and catch up with all that has happened. Well, I got into a homeschool basketball program called HSAA. They are a great organization and everyone on my team are great girls. One of the girls on my team, Olive, was in a co-op  near us. So we visited one day and I loved it, and we joined too. I have made new friends and had some fun classes. Co-op ended for the year and it won't start again till August.(Wah!) I miss everybody in THC soooooooooooo much. Yes you, Firefly. And everybody else too. Anyway, my team won state(TX), and we got third in Nationals. Currently I am on a select spring team with two of my HSAA teammates(One of them being Olive). My birthday came and passed in March. Good news- Firefly, Boonie Mom, and Creator's Son are coming to Dallas soon! And we're going to Six Flags!  And I'm happy! Well, that's about it for now. I am going to consistently blog again.(wink wink) But really. ~Mustang

The Colorado Trip

On August, 3rd, we left with J-dogs family in their 15 passenger van, to go to Pagosa Springs, Colorado . We got a little past tiny Claude, TX when the van broke down. All ELEVEN of us piled out while the dads tried to fix it. Pretty soon a State Trooper saw us and stopped to help. We ended up getting towed back to Claude to get fixed. We spent a night there (that puts us one day behind schedule) and left about noon the next day. We finally got to Amarillo, where we were supposed to spend the previous night, and promptly broke down again. In a cemetery. There we played Tips and I chunked rocks at turtles in a pond. Luckily there was a transmission store close by. We spent TWO WHOLE DAYS in Amarillo (3 days behind)!! It turned out being kinda fun and I got an awesome knife. Leaving on the third day, we made to our condo in CO at about ten pm. We hiked, swam, tubed, saw ancient ruins, went on a trail ride, hiked some more, rode a train... Oh yeah, we also saw a bear at our condo. Speaking of, I saw a momma and a baby bear while on the train and only one other person saw them. We shopped in Durango for a time... On the way home the car broke down twice, but we did finally make it back. Very, er, eventful, wouldn't you say?
Tips in the cemetery...

11 people, 7 passenger car.

Will we make it home?

Update on project: Mustang

Well, I know I haven't blogged in a long time and I will now tell you why. In short, the land that we were living on had to be sold so we had to move out by July, 14. My Dad had been working in Bryan for over a year so we went to stay with J-dog's family, in Bryan, for a while. Then, while visiting my grandparents in Dallas, my Dad got a job offer as a well paid construction manager. Work was drying up in Bryan anyway, so he took the job. We then moved in with my grandparents in Dallas and are currently still there. Yes, that means we had to sell my horses. I miss them. That also means I am now 5 1/2 hours away from Firefly. :*(  Now that you're updated on why I haven't blogged, I'm gonna blog!

Saying Goodbyes...

Saying permanent goodbyes are hard. Very hard. Probably the hardest goodbyes I have ever made were when we moved from Hearne, TX to the Texas Hill Country(THC). My first major goodbye was to Turtle*. Let me tell you about Turtle. I had known Turtle ever since I could remember. I was born a year ahead of her, but that never mattered to us. We were almost always together, partially because we lived right next to each other. We were often mistaken for un-identical twins, because we would wear matching shirts. When my family moved to THC, hers moved to Houston. Now I see her just about once every two months. My other great friend lived about ten minutes away from where we lived, and her name is J-dog. I can't remember not knowing her either. We share a lot of the same interests, and I miss not seeing her all the time.
When we moved, people weren't the only things I missed. I also miss my mulberry tree, which was the best climbing tree ever and, in the summer it produced yummy mulberries! We also had a pond behind our house that was fun to swim in.
More recently, I had to say goodbye to a dear family from co-op; Grateful For Grace and co. If you remember, Gypsy is the horse we got in Oct., 2011. Well, she proved to be too much for me and my mom, and my dad is working out of town, so we had made the tough decision to sell her. The first person to come look at her was a girl about 14, who had been riding her whole life. She ended up buying Gypsy... Part of me is glad she's gone, especially to that girl, but the other part of me is going to miss her. I hope God will help you get through sad times, just like He did for me.

* If you have been wondering, my name isn't Mustang and Turtle isn't really her name; I change the names of people to protect their identity.

A Style of My Own

I'm sure that by now you're aware that I am very liable to do the unexpected and I am unpredictable. If you're not aware, I am not usually bothered by what people think of me, and it is very hard to offend me. Thus, I don't care what my hair looks like, if it's brushed, what clothes I am wearing, if they match, what shoes are on my feet, if there are shoes on my feet, etc... For some examples, I ride my horse like this, than I learned why you wear jeans-
Giddy up?!

And I used to wear these shoes every chance I got, until I wore too many holes in them-

Lovely shoes!

So, here is a funny story- In co-op, a couple semesters ago, I was in a history class studying the 1900's.  For the presentation, we would each pick a decade (50's,60's,70's...). to dress up and represent.  I ended up picking the 70's, because no one else would do it. I for one, don't have old, creepy, 70's clothes laying around (shame on me!), so my mom and I started scouring every thrift store in town, to no avail. We were on practically the last thrift store in town, the last rack of the store, and I spotted something. I pulled it out and immediately burst into laughter. Words cannot describe what I saw, so I will show you :-O. I started to put it back on the rack, but mom said, "Wait, that's perfect!" Bingo! It was a perfect fit. We also got a pair of uncomfortable platform shoes, and a disturbing belt. Also on hand, we had my dad's Afro wig (why he had that, I don't know).
When presentation day was finally here and it was time to suit up, I was excited! After I had suited up and was walking toward the gym, two of my friends, Bob and Joe, were talking in the hall ahead of us. Joe had his back to me, and Bob was facing me. Bob stopped in mid sentence and said "Oh my gosh, is that Mustang?!" Joe turned around and his jaw dropped. I was like, "Hi."
It was time for my class presentation and slowly, the decades before me came up and did their thing. Teacher finally said, "70's!" Now, I had been behind everybody so pretty much no one had seen me. When I stepped up to the front of the stage, a collective gasp rose over the crowd. I looked, er, scarily 70ish.
That was talked about for a loooong  time. Alright, brace yourself!
Yes, that really is me! Go ahead and say it, I look horrifying!!!!!! So yeah, there is not many people who would do that. Unpredictable? Yeah, you could probably say that.

                                                      Have good week, Mustang

The Wingfeather Saga

I suppose you've heard Firefly and Creator's Son talking about the Wingfeather Saga. Now it's my turn! The saga is about three kids, Janner, Tink, and Leeli, their mother, Nia, and Podo, their grandpa. Andrew Peterson, the author, is amazing at what he does. He put an amazing amount of characters, and places, and names, and hilarious footnotes, not to mention awesome critters that he made up! All in all, it's a awesome saga! It's composed of four books; (in order) On The Edge Of The Dark Sea Of Darkness,  North! Or Be Eaten..., Monster In The Hollows, and The Warden And The Wolf King.  I warn you, do not read the backs of the books after the one you're reading, it will ruin EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!  We just finished the third book and there is a BIG problem: The fourth book doesn't come out until...        ** 2013 **        That's a year from now!   I just finished the third book and now you tell me I gotta wait a year before I find what out  happens?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!  Peterson! Hurry it up!!!!!!!!  Flabbuck!!!!!!!!!  * Ahem * This means I'll have to wait a whole 'nother year before I find out what happens to the Igibys! Flabbuck.   :(

What is in your room?

I do not know what is in your room. But I do know what's in my room- A bed (obviously), a window, 2 dressers, an aquarium with a snake in it, a bed side desk, a bookshelf (with many books, as I love to read!), a closet, some shelves, and a little table. On my walls- A picture that I've colored, some paintings that I painted, some paintings that I didn't paint, 3 shelves displaying Breyer model  horses, a bulletin board, and a LOT of horse posters.

So what is in your room?
Horsey wall.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It snowed!!! On the 12th! On me! And I played in it! And why is this so awesome, you ask? Because I live in Texas! And in case you don't know, it never snows in Texas (unless you live in the Panhandle, which I don't).  So my mom woke me up by saying "look out your window."  I sit up sleepily, hobble over to my window and shriek with joy. Little white snowflakes were drifting down.   * Ahem *   Did you hear me??!!     IT WAS SNOWING!!!!    I quickly throw on my coat and jeans and grab my camera. (That's right, I am going to enlighten you with more pictures. heh heh heh!) After I run outside I dash over to Trixie's paddock (taking pics all the while.) and exuberantly tell her how much I was enjoying the snow (imagine her delight!). After I repeat the process with Gypsy, I run to the hill that I had tried to get Sasha to pull me down and grab my sled.  I sled down once then went and got mom, my camera man. By now the snow had started sticking to the ground pretty good so I got a couple good sled rides. We had to babysit our 7 year old neighbor, Doodle, so she was here when I went in to eat and warm up. She came with me when I came back out, so she got some good rides down the hill too. After that, when the hill had melted, we jumped on the trampoline which was covered with snow. It was really fun and slippery. I thank God for the snow and that awesome day.

One thought after another...

News flash = I love horses!

A lot! Speaking of horses...
  • We got our 2nd horse on Oct 29, 2011! She is 10 yrs old, 15 hands, and a palomino. Her name is Gypsy.
  • Also Trixie turned 7,
  •  and I found a new fort,
  • and my snake finally shed,
  • and Sasha turned 7,
  • and we get to go skiing sometime in March,
  • which reminds me that my  birthday is coming up,
  • and... WAIT A MINUTE! It's already February! Wow, time flies!  * Sigh *
  •  I am also reading the  awesomest book saga in the universe! It's called the Wingfeather Saga.
  •   My mom  and I get to go on a field trip with Firefly's family soon, to some sort of museum.
  • Who invented math and why did they make it so complicated?
  • Yay! My basket ball team has gone undefeated! (So far, that is) I play basketball for the YMCA, and it is my favorite sport. (It's also the only one I've ever played.)
I think that is about it for the random thoughts flying about in my head today.  Mustang

Me and Firefly

I met Firefly at our home school co-op, but the really weird thing is we had been going to the same co-op for 3 years and even been in quite a few of the same classes and hardly acknowledged each other's presence! Then my mom (Dee Ann) became the director of co-op and Firefly's mom (Boonie mom) became her assistant. The moms meet up at Firefly's house for a meeting and that was the first time we had ever played together. It was kind of awkward at first, but we got along good pretty quick! Soon after that we went to a co-op registration along with another friend, Squirt. The next day was her brother, Creator's Son's, birthday and we came over and played a long time. We've been great friends since! Through her I've gotten an account on Club penguin, meet many new friends, and had a lot of fun! We've had many fun adventures and she's like a sister now!

Here are some pictures of our adventures!
