The Colorado Trip

On August, 3rd, we left with J-dogs family in their 15 passenger van, to go to Pagosa Springs, Colorado . We got a little past tiny Claude, TX when the van broke down. All ELEVEN of us piled out while the dads tried to fix it. Pretty soon a State Trooper saw us and stopped to help. We ended up getting towed back to Claude to get fixed. We spent a night there (that puts us one day behind schedule) and left about noon the next day. We finally got to Amarillo, where we were supposed to spend the previous night, and promptly broke down again. In a cemetery. There we played Tips and I chunked rocks at turtles in a pond. Luckily there was a transmission store close by. We spent TWO WHOLE DAYS in Amarillo (3 days behind)!! It turned out being kinda fun and I got an awesome knife. Leaving on the third day, we made to our condo in CO at about ten pm. We hiked, swam, tubed, saw ancient ruins, went on a trail ride, hiked some more, rode a train... Oh yeah, we also saw a bear at our condo. Speaking of, I saw a momma and a baby bear while on the train and only one other person saw them. We shopped in Durango for a time... On the way home the car broke down twice, but we did finally make it back. Very, er, eventful, wouldn't you say?
Tips in the cemetery...

11 people, 7 passenger car.

Will we make it home?

Update on project: Mustang

Well, I know I haven't blogged in a long time and I will now tell you why. In short, the land that we were living on had to be sold so we had to move out by July, 14. My Dad had been working in Bryan for over a year so we went to stay with J-dog's family, in Bryan, for a while. Then, while visiting my grandparents in Dallas, my Dad got a job offer as a well paid construction manager. Work was drying up in Bryan anyway, so he took the job. We then moved in with my grandparents in Dallas and are currently still there. Yes, that means we had to sell my horses. I miss them. That also means I am now 5 1/2 hours away from Firefly. :*(  Now that you're updated on why I haven't blogged, I'm gonna blog!

Saying Goodbyes...

Saying permanent goodbyes are hard. Very hard. Probably the hardest goodbyes I have ever made were when we moved from Hearne, TX to the Texas Hill Country(THC). My first major goodbye was to Turtle*. Let me tell you about Turtle. I had known Turtle ever since I could remember. I was born a year ahead of her, but that never mattered to us. We were almost always together, partially because we lived right next to each other. We were often mistaken for un-identical twins, because we would wear matching shirts. When my family moved to THC, hers moved to Houston. Now I see her just about once every two months. My other great friend lived about ten minutes away from where we lived, and her name is J-dog. I can't remember not knowing her either. We share a lot of the same interests, and I miss not seeing her all the time.
When we moved, people weren't the only things I missed. I also miss my mulberry tree, which was the best climbing tree ever and, in the summer it produced yummy mulberries! We also had a pond behind our house that was fun to swim in.
More recently, I had to say goodbye to a dear family from co-op; Grateful For Grace and co. If you remember, Gypsy is the horse we got in Oct., 2011. Well, she proved to be too much for me and my mom, and my dad is working out of town, so we had made the tough decision to sell her. The first person to come look at her was a girl about 14, who had been riding her whole life. She ended up buying Gypsy... Part of me is glad she's gone, especially to that girl, but the other part of me is going to miss her. I hope God will help you get through sad times, just like He did for me.

* If you have been wondering, my name isn't Mustang and Turtle isn't really her name; I change the names of people to protect their identity.

A Style of My Own

I'm sure that by now you're aware that I am very liable to do the unexpected and I am unpredictable. If you're not aware, I am not usually bothered by what people think of me, and it is very hard to offend me. Thus, I don't care what my hair looks like, if it's brushed, what clothes I am wearing, if they match, what shoes are on my feet, if there are shoes on my feet, etc... For some examples, I ride my horse like this, than I learned why you wear jeans-
Giddy up?!

And I used to wear these shoes every chance I got, until I wore too many holes in them-

Lovely shoes!

So, here is a funny story- In co-op, a couple semesters ago, I was in a history class studying the 1900's.  For the presentation, we would each pick a decade (50's,60's,70's...). to dress up and represent.  I ended up picking the 70's, because no one else would do it. I for one, don't have old, creepy, 70's clothes laying around (shame on me!), so my mom and I started scouring every thrift store in town, to no avail. We were on practically the last thrift store in town, the last rack of the store, and I spotted something. I pulled it out and immediately burst into laughter. Words cannot describe what I saw, so I will show you :-O. I started to put it back on the rack, but mom said, "Wait, that's perfect!" Bingo! It was a perfect fit. We also got a pair of uncomfortable platform shoes, and a disturbing belt. Also on hand, we had my dad's Afro wig (why he had that, I don't know).
When presentation day was finally here and it was time to suit up, I was excited! After I had suited up and was walking toward the gym, two of my friends, Bob and Joe, were talking in the hall ahead of us. Joe had his back to me, and Bob was facing me. Bob stopped in mid sentence and said "Oh my gosh, is that Mustang?!" Joe turned around and his jaw dropped. I was like, "Hi."
It was time for my class presentation and slowly, the decades before me came up and did their thing. Teacher finally said, "70's!" Now, I had been behind everybody so pretty much no one had seen me. When I stepped up to the front of the stage, a collective gasp rose over the crowd. I looked, er, scarily 70ish.
That was talked about for a loooong  time. Alright, brace yourself!
Yes, that really is me! Go ahead and say it, I look horrifying!!!!!! So yeah, there is not many people who would do that. Unpredictable? Yeah, you could probably say that.

                                                      Have good week, Mustang

The Wingfeather Saga

I suppose you've heard Firefly and Creator's Son talking about the Wingfeather Saga. Now it's my turn! The saga is about three kids, Janner, Tink, and Leeli, their mother, Nia, and Podo, their grandpa. Andrew Peterson, the author, is amazing at what he does. He put an amazing amount of characters, and places, and names, and hilarious footnotes, not to mention awesome critters that he made up! All in all, it's a awesome saga! It's composed of four books; (in order) On The Edge Of The Dark Sea Of Darkness,  North! Or Be Eaten..., Monster In The Hollows, and The Warden And The Wolf King.  I warn you, do not read the backs of the books after the one you're reading, it will ruin EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!  We just finished the third book and there is a BIG problem: The fourth book doesn't come out until...        ** 2013 **        That's a year from now!   I just finished the third book and now you tell me I gotta wait a year before I find what out  happens?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!  Peterson! Hurry it up!!!!!!!!  Flabbuck!!!!!!!!!  * Ahem * This means I'll have to wait a whole 'nother year before I find out what happens to the Igibys! Flabbuck.   :(

What is in your room?

I do not know what is in your room. But I do know what's in my room- A bed (obviously), a window, 2 dressers, an aquarium with a snake in it, a bed side desk, a bookshelf (with many books, as I love to read!), a closet, some shelves, and a little table. On my walls- A picture that I've colored, some paintings that I painted, some paintings that I didn't paint, 3 shelves displaying Breyer model  horses, a bulletin board, and a LOT of horse posters.

So what is in your room?
Horsey wall.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It snowed!!! On the 12th! On me! And I played in it! And why is this so awesome, you ask? Because I live in Texas! And in case you don't know, it never snows in Texas (unless you live in the Panhandle, which I don't).  So my mom woke me up by saying "look out your window."  I sit up sleepily, hobble over to my window and shriek with joy. Little white snowflakes were drifting down.   * Ahem *   Did you hear me??!!     IT WAS SNOWING!!!!    I quickly throw on my coat and jeans and grab my camera. (That's right, I am going to enlighten you with more pictures. heh heh heh!) After I run outside I dash over to Trixie's paddock (taking pics all the while.) and exuberantly tell her how much I was enjoying the snow (imagine her delight!). After I repeat the process with Gypsy, I run to the hill that I had tried to get Sasha to pull me down and grab my sled.  I sled down once then went and got mom, my camera man. By now the snow had started sticking to the ground pretty good so I got a couple good sled rides. We had to babysit our 7 year old neighbor, Doodle, so she was here when I went in to eat and warm up. She came with me when I came back out, so she got some good rides down the hill too. After that, when the hill had melted, we jumped on the trampoline which was covered with snow. It was really fun and slippery. I thank God for the snow and that awesome day.

One thought after another...

News flash = I love horses!

A lot! Speaking of horses...
  • We got our 2nd horse on Oct 29, 2011! She is 10 yrs old, 15 hands, and a palomino. Her name is Gypsy.
  • Also Trixie turned 7,
  •  and I found a new fort,
  • and my snake finally shed,
  • and Sasha turned 7,
  • and we get to go skiing sometime in March,
  • which reminds me that my  birthday is coming up,
  • and... WAIT A MINUTE! It's already February! Wow, time flies!  * Sigh *
  •  I am also reading the  awesomest book saga in the universe! It's called the Wingfeather Saga.
  •   My mom  and I get to go on a field trip with Firefly's family soon, to some sort of museum.
  • Who invented math and why did they make it so complicated?
  • Yay! My basket ball team has gone undefeated! (So far, that is) I play basketball for the YMCA, and it is my favorite sport. (It's also the only one I've ever played.)
I think that is about it for the random thoughts flying about in my head today.  Mustang

Me and Firefly

I met Firefly at our home school co-op, but the really weird thing is we had been going to the same co-op for 3 years and even been in quite a few of the same classes and hardly acknowledged each other's presence! Then my mom (Dee Ann) became the director of co-op and Firefly's mom (Boonie mom) became her assistant. The moms meet up at Firefly's house for a meeting and that was the first time we had ever played together. It was kind of awkward at first, but we got along good pretty quick! Soon after that we went to a co-op registration along with another friend, Squirt. The next day was her brother, Creator's Son's, birthday and we came over and played a long time. We've been great friends since! Through her I've gotten an account on Club penguin, meet many new friends, and had a lot of fun! We've had many fun adventures and she's like a sister now!

Here are some pictures of our adventures!

And you thought you were crazy!

I am a very crazy person. I'm sure you know this by know. But even now I surprise myself: Like... Trying to get my dog to pull me down a hill in a sled (no snow). And sledding down a steep hill (still no snow). And trotting bareback (ugh, that's a bad memory). Well, the list is long.

As for Sasha pulling me down the hill; I start out with two rocks in the sled and tie Sasha to the sled. She won't budge. Great. I untie her and she picks up a stick and runs off. (Ding!) Light bulb! ;) I call her and tie her back to the sled  and throw the stick. She takes off, sled and all. Next day- I get her all hooked up to the sled...

SHE WONT PULL THE STINKIN' SLED.

Period. Nothing I can do about it. Grrr. :( It was getting pretty dark so I headed home (SO done with Sasha pulling the sled. period. exclamation point.). I just so happened to pass a steep hill and I had the sled and it wasn't dark yet and it was too just darn tempting! I tie the sled to a tree and send the sled down with a rock; the sled stops and the rock flies out. Hmm, comforting! I hop in the sled and ease myself down until the rope stops me. OK, I can do this!? I say a quick prayer and ease myself over the edge and off I go! I pick up speed quickly, as this is a VERY steep hill. When I hit the end of the rope I am moving along quite nicely and I hear a pop and down I go on the steep hill. Oh yeah and the steep slope is scattered with many little trees about the size of your index finger and about 4 feet tall.  Just adds to the fun of it (nervous laugh)! So here I am, zooming down a hill (very steep mind you!) at about 10 MPH with no snow (still), and 4 foot tall demon trees. I arrive at the bottom, breathless, a death grip on the sled, and a big smile on my face. After a few moments I jump up and scream THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

I trudge back up the steep hill and reveal my story to mom. And as for trotting bareback... Well, I'd rather not go there! :{  To be continued next time I do something completely idiotic worth blogging about! Till then, Mustang.
